Surf Runner Privacy Policy
This policy describes Surf Runner's local game saves, Apple StoreKit purchases, and Google AdMob and User Messaging Platform services.
Scope
This policy applies to Surf Runner, an iOS game published by FA Developers. The General Privacy Policy separately covers the FA Developers website, communications, and client dashboards.
Surf Runner does not require an FA Developers account and does not operate an FA Developers gameplay backend. Game progress and settings stay in the app's local storage, but Apple and Google process certain information when you use purchases, advertising, and consent services as described below.
Information stored on your device
Surf Runner stores a local JSON save file inside the app's iOS sandbox. It may include:
- high score, last score, completed runs, tutorial progress, and trick unlock progress;
- earned coins, coin-unlock counts, selected skin, owned skins, and rarity progression;
- regular or goofy stance and music and sound-effect volume;
- locally cached StoreKit product entitlements, remove-ads status, and bonus-skin state; and
- local counters and timestamps used to schedule interstitial advertisements.
This save is not uploaded to an FA Developers server. It remains until the app overwrites it or iOS removes the app's data, such as when you delete the app. File sharing is disabled. The save file is not separately encrypted by Surf Runner, but it is stored within the app sandbox and protected by the security features of your device.
The app also writes a local advertising diagnostic log containing SDK status and error messages. The log is overwritten when the app launches and is not uploaded by Surf Runner to FA Developers.
Google advertising and consent services
Surf Runner uses the Google Mobile Ads SDK to provide a menu banner, occasional interstitial ads, and optional rewarded ads that may offer a second life. It uses Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) to determine whether a consent form is required in your region before advertisements are requested.
Before initializing ads, Surf Runner configures requests as child-directed, limits ad content to Google's General rating, disables personalized advertising, disables Google's publisher first-party identifier, and marks the UMP request for under-age treatment. Surf Runner does not display Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt and does not request access to the IDFA through that prompt.
Even with these restrictions, Google's SDK may automatically process information such as:
- IP address, which may be used to estimate a device's general location;
- device or app-bounded identifiers and technical device information;
- advertising data, including ads shown and impressions or interactions;
- product interactions, such as app launches, taps, and video views;
- performance data, such as launch time, hangs, or energy usage; and
- crash reports and other diagnostic information.
Google may use this information to deliver and measure contextual advertising, operate and improve its services, limit repeated ads, and prevent fraud and abuse. Google's practices are described in the Google Privacy Policy and its advertising data information.
Apple StoreKit purchases
Surf Runner offers non-consumable in-app purchases for cosmetic skins and a remove-ads option. Apple processes purchases through the App Store and may receive your Apple Account, payment, transaction, device, security, and purchase information according to Apple's Privacy Policy.
FA Developers does not receive or store your full payment-card details. Surf Runner receives product information, localized prices, purchase status, and entitlement state needed to complete a purchase, unlock content, restore purchases, or revoke a refunded or expired entitlement. The app caches that entitlement state in the local save file.
Information Surf Runner does not request
Surf Runner's game logic does not request your name, email address, account login, contacts, precise location, health information, photos, camera, microphone, calendars, or push-notification permission. It does not include FA Developers analytics, telemetry, a remote game save, or a third-party crash reporter beyond diagnostic processing that may occur within the active Google advertising SDK.
How information is used and disclosed
Information is used to:
- save progress and preferences on your device;
- show, measure, and secure contextual advertisements;
- determine whether a regional consent message is required;
- process purchases, restore entitlements, and unlock content;
- diagnose advertising and purchase failures; and
- comply with law and protect users, providers, and services.
Information is disclosed to Apple for App Store and StoreKit services and to Google and its service providers for Mobile Ads and UMP. We require service providers to handle information consistently with their contractual and legal obligations and to provide protections appropriate to the services they perform. We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect rights or safety, during a business transfer, or with your direction.
FA Developers does not sell Surf Runner game-save information. Surf Runner instructs Google to serve non-personalized, child-directed ads and does not use game progress for FA Developers advertising.
Your choices
- You may delete Surf Runner to remove its local save and advertising diagnostic log from your device, subject to iOS backup and restore behavior.
- UMP may present a consent form when Google determines one is required. If consent does not permit ad requests, Surf Runner leaves advertising disabled for that session.
- Purchasing Remove Ads disables banner and forced interstitial ads. Optional rewarded ads remain available because you choose whether to watch them for a reward.
- You can manage purchases and request restoration through the App Store and Surf Runner's Settings screen.
- You can report an inappropriate or age-inappropriate ad from the Settings screen or by emailing us.
Retention and deletion
FA Developers does not maintain a remote Surf Runner game profile. Local save information remains on your device until it is replaced or the app's data is removed. The local advertising diagnostic log is replaced at each launch. Apple and Google retain information they process according to their own policies, legal obligations, fraud-prevention needs, and service configurations.
For a privacy or deletion request concerning information controlled by FA Developers, email support@fadevelopers.com. Because FA Developers does not operate a Surf Runner account or remote save, we may not have game records that can be associated with you. Requests concerning Apple or Google data may need to be submitted directly to those providers.
Children and parents
Surf Runner may be used by children. It does not ask players to create an account or provide a name, email address, precise location, photo, or other direct contact information. Advertising requests are configured as child-directed, General-rated, and non-personalized. Google may still process IP addresses, device or app-bounded identifiers, advertising interactions, and diagnostics for contextual ad delivery, service operations, measurement, and fraud prevention.
A parent or guardian may contact us to ask questions, report an ad, or request review or deletion of information controlled by FA Developers. Because game progress is stored only on the device, deleting the app removes the local save from that device, subject to iOS backup and restore behavior. For data controlled by Apple or Google, the provider's own parental and privacy request process applies.
Security and international processing
Surf Runner relies on the iOS app sandbox and Apple's platform security for local data and uses the security controls provided by Apple and Google for their services. No system can be guaranteed completely secure. Apple, Google, and their providers may process information in the United States and other countries where privacy laws may differ from those where you live.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when Surf Runner's features, advertising configuration, SDKs, or legal obligations change. We will post the revised policy here and update the effective date. When required, we will provide additional notice or obtain consent before materially changing how previously collected information is used.
