Commit Privacy Policy
This policy describes how the Commit iOS app handles Screen Time selections, commitment records, device identifiers, and Stripe-powered payments.
Scope
This policy applies to Commit, an iOS Screen Time accountability app published by FA Developers. Commit lets you select apps, categories, or websites, choose a duration or limit, and optionally place money behind a commitment. The General Privacy Policy separately covers the FA Developers website, communications, and client dashboards.
Information stored on your device
Commit stores information needed to provide the features you choose, including:
- Apple Screen Time selection tokens for apps, categories, and web domains;
- commitment type, duration, start and end times, amount, status, and completion state;
- saved presets and their names, selections, duration, and amount;
- backend commitment and payment-intent identifiers associated with a commitment;
- permission, onboarding, and terms-acceptance settings; and
- a randomly generated device identifier used to communicate with Commit's backend.
Apple's Family Controls system provides privacy-preserving selection tokens. Commit stores those tokens in the app's local storage and protected app-group storage so its iOS extensions can enforce the blocks you request. Commit does not send the Apple selection tokens themselves to the FA Developers backend. Deleting the app generally removes app-local information, but it does not automatically delete records already created with Commit's backend, Stripe, or other providers.
Information sent to Commit's service
Commit does not require a traditional account with a name, username, or email address. When you use a feature that relies on the backend, the app may send and receive:
- a randomly generated device identifier and related backend user identifier;
- a commitment identifier, type, amount, deadline, and lifecycle status;
- a limited title or selection-count summary, rather than the underlying Apple selection tokens;
- activation, completion, cancellation, early-ending, and authorization status;
- periodic heartbeat and last-seen timestamps while commitments are active;
- Stripe customer, SetupIntent, PaymentIntent, payment-method, and transaction-status identifiers;
- payment amounts, status, and limited charge or release information; and
- where enabled, records needed to calculate or document a charitable allocation from proceeds.
Network requests also necessarily expose technical information such as an IP address, request time, app or operating-system information included by the device, and basic server logs to the hosting providers involved in delivering the service.
Apple Screen Time permissions
Commit uses Apple's Family Controls, Device Activity, and Managed Settings frameworks to shield selections and monitor the commitment rules you configure. These permissions are used for app functionality, not advertising. Apple may process information according to its own platform terms and privacy policy.
You may revoke Screen Time authorization in iOS Settings. Revoking required permission during an active commitment may be reported to Commit's service and may affect the commitment or optional deposit under the terms you accepted in the app.
Stripe payments
Optional paid commitments use Stripe. Stripe, not FA Developers, directly collects and processes payment-method details and may also process transaction, identity, device, fraud-prevention, security, compliance, usage, and diagnostic information. Commit does not store your full card number or banking credentials.
FA Developers receives the limited customer, payment, transaction, and status information needed to create, authorize, update, release, return, or apply a commitment amount; prevent fraud; handle refunds or disputes; and maintain legally required transaction records. Stripe's practices are described in the Stripe Privacy Policy.
How we use information
- create, enforce, update, complete, or end commitments you request;
- determine whether required authorization and check-ins remain active;
- authorize, release, return, or apply optional commitment amounts;
- provide support and investigate payment or technical problems;
- protect Commit, its users, and its providers from fraud, abuse, and security incidents;
- maintain transaction, dispute, accounting, and compliance records; and
- improve reliability and diagnose failures.
When we disclose information
We disclose information as needed to providers that operate Commit: Apple for iOS and Screen Time services; Stripe for payment processing; Supabase for backend data infrastructure; and Render for backend hosting. We require service providers to handle information consistently with their contractual and legal obligations and to provide protections appropriate to the services they perform.
We may also disclose information when required by law, to respond to valid legal process, protect rights or safety, address fraud or security incidents, complete a business transfer, or follow your direction. Commit does not sell personal information for money and does not use commitment or payment information for third-party advertising or cross-app tracking.
Retention and deletion
Device information is retained until you remove it through the app, reset the relevant setting, or delete the app, subject to iOS behavior. Backend commitment, heartbeat, and payment-status records are retained while needed to operate active commitments and afterward as reasonably necessary for payment processing, fraud prevention, support, accounting, disputes, and legal obligations. We delete or de-identify records when they are no longer reasonably needed, unless law requires longer retention. Stripe and other providers apply their own retention requirements.
To request deletion of information controlled by FA Developers, email support@fadevelopers.com. Because Commit does not use a conventional account, include enough non-sensitive information for us to locate and verify the applicable records. We may retain limited information where required for payments, disputes, security, or law.
Your choices and rights
You choose which Screen Time items to select, whether to save a preset, and whether to create a free or paid commitment. You can manage Screen Time permissions through iOS Settings and payment methods through the Stripe-powered flow and your financial institution, subject to active commitment terms.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, or a copy of personal information we control, and to object to or restrict certain processing. Contact us using the address below. We may verify your request and apply legally permitted exceptions.
Children
Commit is not directed to children under 13. Do not use an optional paid commitment unless you are legally able to authorize the payment or have the permission of a parent or legal guardian. If you believe a child has provided personal information through Commit, contact us so we can review and delete it where appropriate.
Security and international processing
We use reasonable safeguards designed to protect information, including encrypted network transport and restricted backend credentials. No system can be guaranteed completely secure. FA Developers and its providers may process information in the United States and other countries where privacy laws may differ from those where you live.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when Commit's features, providers, or legal obligations change. We will post the revised policy here and update the effective date. When required, we will provide additional notice or obtain consent before materially changing how previously collected information is used.
